What TCA does
TCA (Trichloroacetic Acid) in a non-buffered 10%–30% formulation produces controlled medium-to-deep chemical exfoliation. At these concentrations it’s used to address deeper wrinkles, dark pigmentation, post-acne marks and significant blemishes. Visible peeling can begin anywhere from 3 to 14 days after application and clients should expect a period of flaking and renewal rather than immediate surface changes.
This deeper action is a trade-off: more pronounced resurfacing with longer recovery compared with superficial peels. It is not suggested for sensitive skin. The depth and response depend on concentration, number of layers and individual skin condition, so results and downtime will vary between clients rather than being guaranteed.
Layers, strength and timing
TCA peels at The Healthy Glow Studio are applied in controlled layers — typically between one and five — with sessions spaced every two to seven weeks depending on skin sensitivity, condition and chosen concentration. Stronger formulations and more layers penetrate deeper, and these variables determine healing time. Sessions are practical clinic visits: appointments run 45 minutes, with pricing starting at $115 and increasing by concentration, layers and body area.
Because face and body skin differ in thickness, we adjust the number of layers and observe how the skin reacts. Body Peel can be performed on arms, hands, legs, thighs, back, abdomen, feet and underarms. Thicker skin areas may tolerate deeper treatment with different peeling patterns and recovery dynamics compared to facial skin.
Preparation and aftercare essentials
All complexions must be prepped for two to four weeks before a TCA peel using our pre-peel kit, which is sold separately; adherence to this prep reduces complications and optimizes outcomes. After a peel, clients need prescribed post-treatment products to support healing. We assess suitability in consultation and may recommend a patch test — TCA 10%–30% is not suggested for sensitive or reactive skin.
Local factors like Mascotte’s humid subtropical climate and regular sun exposure affect healing and aftercare choices. Plan treatments around busy outdoor weekends or events (such as Montverde Academy occasions or Clermont waterfront outings) and consider evening or weekend appointments if you commute via US 27. Proper sun protection and hydration are critical during the 3–14 day peeling window.
